We
do our best to meet or exceed the expectations of any hunter. You as a
hunter should spend some time thinking about your expectations of us and
most importantly what you can honestly expect from yourself. Be realistic
in accepting your physical capabilities and what you would like to get
out of your hunt. Often, hunters will have a hard time deciding between
the two hunting options. Before you make that decision we want you to
consider all of the factors.
The first
question everyone asks is if there is a better success rate between the
lodge or the wilderness camp. The answer is based on two things. One,
if all hunters were created equal, luck would be the only factor. This
is not the case. There are no "real" differences in success
rates of the two hunt options. The differences in success rates are hunters
honestly choosing which hunt is best for them and which hunt will come
closest to their expectations.
Consider
and compare the following. While in the wilderness camp you will be sleeping,
eating, and virtually living in tents warmed by wood stoves. Most likely,
a relaxing bubble bath will consist of your hunting partner dumping a
bucket of warm water over your head in 30 degree weather. When it is time
to go to the rest room, it is more than a matter of flipping on the hall
light and stumbling over the dog. You will sleep on a padded and elevated
cot, not even close to a "Craftmatic."
Now for
some, this paragraph probably already sold you. We surely do not intend
to give you a negative outlook of our camp. Many of the best hunts were
born here. If the smell of wood smoke and the nightly howls of the Coyote
make you shiver with excitement then we would love to have you here. However,
if you have any doubts then you should once again talk with the guides,
staff and outfitter of Dome Mountain. In addition, utilize the references
we provide you. Ask the previous hunters what they thought about the camp.
Lastly, honestly ask yourself if you will have a good time even if you
do not harvest that big 6 x 6 that fills your dreams. The Lodge hunt provides
much more leisurely accommodations and may be more suited to a hunter
who does not have a desire to live with the elk. They see the hot tub,
large lodge and cozy cabins as a great way to spend a hunt. Keep in mind
that the entire time of your stay will not be spent hunting. There is
only so much you can do while in the woods to really call it hunting.
There comes a time when it turns into recreational trail riding and in
all seriousness, does more damage than good.
Add to this
the fact that at times weather conditions can make the best move to be
just heading back to camp and taking a well deserved nap. If you feel
you would be robbed in doing so, we have no problem staying on the mountain.
Remember, our goal is the same as yours, and that is to get the most from
your hunt. No matter what hunt you choose, rest assured you will be treated
to a memorable and safe hunt.
